NoFAP

If one word could describe the experience of living in modern-day society, it would be dopamine. Everyone wants your attention, and dopamine is the key to getting it.

Recent studies have shown that since the advent of high-speed Internet, men - especially young men - have been powerfully affected by the constant availability of pornography - much like the dopamine-mouse experiment, we keep hitting the button to get more dopamine, to the exclusion of all else.

Consequences include low energy, social anxiety, depression, weight gain, poor self-esteem, inability to focus and ADHD & OCD-type behaviors.

In improving your life in every way, NoFAP may be one of the key 20% of behavior changes that will change everything for you.

NoFAP or no-fap is a popular term for the intentional, disciplined avoidance of porn and masterbation. Its name comes from the Internet slang term fap, referring to male masturbation.

The term was popularized on Reddit with the r/NoFAP group, which was first formed when a study was published, stating that;

When men don't masturbate for 7 days their testosterone levels increase by 45.7%

NoFAP v Semen Retention

NoFAP practitioners specifically avoid orgasm to masturbation- but allow orgasm and ejaculation with a partner.

In this regard, the ancient practice of semen retention is different in that it allows orgasm, but not ejaculation. However, NoFAP practicitioners who do not have a sexual partner are likely to be practicing sexual abstinence, which is a form of semen retention.
