Attribution Bias

Main topic:

We like to believe we know WHY things happen the way they do, especially when it comes to the reasons why people ACT the way we do.

We're desperate to assign blame and understand causal factors in behaviour, and so when we don't know the truth we make it up. This can happen so quickly and powerfully that it SEEMS true, yet is often completely false.
