Self-Centered Giving: The End of the Martyr Complex

New full length video out today!

Most people fear death because they treat it like a mystery. But here’s the truth: death isn’t mysterious at all. We already know what it feels like — because we’ve all experienced unconsciousness. Whether it’s under general anesthetic, blackout drunk, or in a dreamless sleep, there’s no awareness, no sense of time, no “you” during that gap. Death is the same, except you don’t wake up afterward. It’s not pain, it’s not eternal darkness — it’s nothing. And nothing isn’t scary.

But while death strips away fear, life still demands honesty. That’s where the myth of altruism comes in. There’s no such thing as giving without reward. Even martyrs get something out of their sacrifices — identity, approval, guilt relief. The truth is, people-pleasers often hide behind “altruism” as a way of controlling others or trying to earn love.

The alternative is self-centered giving: helping in ways that benefit both you and them, without martyrdom or manipulation. Win-win, or don’t do it at all.

👉 What do you think? Is death as simple as unconsciousness? And have you ever caught yourself “helping” just to feel good about yourself? Share your thoughts in the comments — I’d love to hear your take.
