Which Brojo course does this reflection apply to?
What are the main insights you had about yourself in doing this course?
That I am perfectly capable of initiating conversations in many settings and my previous problems have come from under-utilising my own social skills.
What actions did you take and how did you feel during those experiences?
I have initiated conversations with at least 6 people as suggested: 1. Person I get on least well with at work. 2. Guy running craft beer shop (conversation lasted 20 minutes!). 3/4. Two different couples met in youth hostel while walking. 5. Another solo traveller at hostel. 6. Taxi driver after returning home. I felt normal and relaxed, not as if I was holding self back.
What is the one main thing you want to remember from this course and keep applying to your life?
Focus on giving people the opportunity of knowing you, of what you can give of yourself rather than feel like you are taking the time of another person.
What can you do to ensure that what you learned from this course continues to improve your life?
Make eye contact more, smile, be open and ready to talk. Stop feeling like this behaviour is somehow imposing on other people .
What was your favourite part of the course?
Being encouraged to see every part of your life, however regular or mundane, as an opportunity to initiate conversation.
Which part of the course did you find the most difficult, confusing or unhelpful?
Nothing specific, but I am still frustrated by emphasis on strong volume as I struggle with this in loud environments where I might otherwise feel more confident meeting people.
Overall, how do you rate this course?
